With just over 24 hours left in our Week of Giving, we’re inviting you to learn about why Athletics at Damien is about more than just victories on the field.
Here at Damien, the development of our student-athletes goes beyond their athletic ability, as it focuses also on the three pillars of our school: Service, Scholarship, Faith. While we are fortunate to have successful programs across all sports, we are thankful to have an Athletic Department focused on the holistic development of our Spartans.
For this Week of Giving, please consider showing your support for one of our incredible 16 Athletic programs on campus, as your gift makes a positive impact in the lives of our student-athletes.

A very special week begins again! The 3rd Annual Damien Week of Giving launches on May 3rd and culminates on the feast of Saint Damien on May 10th.
The past two years’ success of Damien Week of Giving is a testament to the power of our incredible support system and your belief in the Damien mission in and outside of the classroom and fields.
We intend to celebrate and articulate the connection between Joseph de Veuster, a.k.a. Saint Damien’s life/ministry, and the community of Damien High School. 100% of the funds raised go directly to the areas of the school that you love most.
In other words, your generosity directly celebrates everything that Damien High School has to offer and makes this life-changing education possible!
We are grateful to have you on our side. Let’s continue to empower our students to be difference-makers and help them get the most out of their Damien experience!

Update #6 - 2 years ago
As we enter into our final days of the Week of Giving, we’re introducing you to Stephen Lewis ’23, who is a member of our Debate program.
The highly-successful Debate program at Damien High School has been a foundation our school has built upon for over 60 years. Our program has continuously competed at the highest level across the country, routinely defeating other top programs in the U.S.
For this Week of Giving, our Debate program is looking to expand its competition schedule to feature more tournaments against the best competition on the East Coast. While the support you provide helps our students grow critical debate skills, as Stephen says, it also helps our Spartans develop the charisms of St. Damien and become Men of Service, Scholarship, and Faith.

Update #5 - 2 years ago
For the fourth day of our Week of Giving, we’re introducing you to DeMarqis Frazier ’23, who is a member of our Spartan Regiment/Music program.
The Music program at Damien High School, which currently serves almost 100 students across seven performance ensembles, has been an intrinsic part of our community for decades. Our award-winning program has had the opportunity to participate in unique opportunities in Hawaii or at Disneyland, as well as in the Hollywood Christmas Parade.
For this Week of Giving, our Music program is looking to upgrade the uniforms of the recent Div. 2A Champion, Spartan Regiment. This program is not only important in the development of students like DeMarqis, but it has served as an ambassador program across Southern California and beyond as a reminder of the excellence of Damien High School.

For the third day of our Week of Giving, we’re introducing you to Carl Simpson ’24, who is a student in our Engineering program.
This program is currently in its 10th year of operation here at Damien High School and has been instrumental in our curriculum as we develop a Catholic education distinguished by excellence.
As Engineering has grown, the program has expanded to two Project Lead the Way courses: Engineering and Computer Science. PLTW’s comprehensive curriculum gives our students the ability to develop critical real-world critical thinking and creative skills through hands-on, project-based modules.
Our Engineering program is working toward replacing the old laptops for their students. This effort will help prepare the next wave of Spartans as we look towards another 10 years of success!

Update #3 - 2 years ago
For the second day of our Week of Giving, we’re introducing you to Nicholas Moreno ’24, who is a current member of our Sports Medicine Program.
This program has been an essential pillar of Damien High School for over a decade and has made a positive impact on students like Nicholas.
Sports Medicine has been crucial to Damien, as it has improved not only the health and success of our athletes but it has also provided vital education to our students on the conjunction of medicine/body health and sports.
This year, the program is focusing their fundraising on the completion of a new Recovery Room. This room will serve to better our Spartan student-athletes’ recovery and injury prevention efforts. This space will also be used as a lab for our Sports Medicine and Athletic Training classes/clubs, as well as be a space to bring in guest speakers to educate our students and athletes about the various career fields within the realm of sports medicine.
